Standard Metric BS5814 Tabwashers
Introduction
BS5814 tabwashers are part of an extensive range of components that Ford Component Manufacturing Ltd manufacture.
BS5814: 1979 specifies requirements for carbon steel and stainless steel tabwashers for general engineering purposes, suitable for ;ocking ISO metric precision hexagon bolts, screws and nuts to BS3692. These tabwashers are similar to the imperial series specified in BS SP41 - 46 but are thicker to suit the more robust requirements of general engineering and have been widely specified, for example in the nuclear related industries.
Components are supplied either straight, left hand, or right hand as shown in the diagram below.
Materials
- Carbon steel tab washers are made from mild steel and supplied in the annealed, general purpose condition
- Stainless steel tab washers are supplied in the annealed condition.
- Other materials are available on request.
Plating
Components can be zinc plated on request to BS1706. Other plating options are available if required.
How to Specify
- Bolt size, E.g. M5
- Type, E.g. straight
- Material, E.g. carbon steel
- Finish, E.g. zinc plated
