Ford have the capabilities to provide a one stop solution to your component requirements.

Facilities Include Presswork, Laser Profiling, Fine Grinding, Surface Finishing and Laminated Components.

Presswork

Presswork facilities include C frame, hydraulic and power presses up to 100 tonnes.

Ford manufactures flat and formed components in a wide range of materials and thicknesses typically from 0.025mm up to 10mm thick in materials ranging from aluminium to stainless steel, and exotic materials.

To best suit our customer's economical requirements Ford have the facilities to manufacture components using strip as well as semi and fully automatic coil feeding.

Punch Press

Our CNC rotational punch press is ideal for manufacturing low to medium sized batch quantities utilising standard tooling. This avoids passing tooling costs onto our customers.

Where a dedicated tool is economically feasible, punch press tooling proves to be much less costly than conventional tooling, and has a shorter lead time.

Tooling

Ford have a vast array of standard tooling that can be utilised and adapted to suit most requirements, meaning that in many cases there is little or no tooling cost to pass on to our customers.

When necessary we are able to quote for dedicated tooling including, compound and progression tooling.

Laser Profiling

To upgrade our laser profiling facilities we have recently purchased a state-of-the art Orion 3015 Hybrid laser cutting machine that is capable of handling sheet material up to 3m long x 1.5m wide.

Ford now has the capability to cut steel, stainless steel, aluminium, etc, up to a thickness of 16mm.

Low Cost Tooling

The Low Cost Tool (LCT) technique is a process that Ford developed forĀ  manufacturing thin gauge components without the need for conventional tooling. Typically the tool costs for LCT will be 90% less than a conventional tool.

The tooling itself can usually be manufactured in days rather than weeks as would be required for conventional tooling.

Fine Grinding

To enhance our grinding facilities Ford have a fine grinding machine that allows us to rapidly grind components to a high quality surface finish and a small thickness tolerance.

Materials

Ford Component Manufacturing Ltd produces components from a vast array of material types, grades, forms and thicknesses.

Standard materials include:

  • Aluminium
  • Brass
  • Copper
  • Steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Phosphor bronze

Material is held in stock on our premises and we have consignment and schedule stock agreements with our major suppliers. We also work closely with a number of suppliers to enable us to manufacture components made from exotic metals and less commonly used materials.
