Ford Component Manufacturing has over 100 years of experience in the production of precision engineered products. Specialising in presswork from simple washers to complex parts requiring the latest in progression tooling. Our most popular products are shims, washers, tab washers and laminated components.
Our wide range of machines and production cells means that we are able to offer the smallest of sample batches to high volume production runs. Alongside our presswork we offer a number of complimentary services such as laser cutting, machining, grinding and shot blasting.
Our comprehensive stocks of steel, stainless steel, copper and brass coupled with a large selection of shop tools and on site tool makers allow us to offer extremely fast turnaround of parts.
Washers, shims and locking plates
A core part of our business is to supply customer specific products across the many industries which use them. Washers are supplied in high volume to our automotive customers, locking plates of all shapes and sizes are used in the rail industry, other customers often only need a handful of specialist shims.
We also manufacture a wide range of imperial and metric tabwashers, including BS5814.
Formed Presswork
Formed components are offered in a wide range of materials and of varying complexity. We manufacture complex volume parts from multistage progression tooling and drawn parts for products such as core plugs and fuse caps as used in the energy sector.
Easipeel Laminate Products
Our Easipeel laminate shimstock consists of a number of layers of precision foil bonded together with an adhesive and comes as standard in steel, stainless steel, brass and aluminium. We can supply sheets direct or alternatively produce parts to customer requirements.

Low Cost Tooling (LCT) Shims
We at Ford have developed our own Low Cost Tooling (LCT) method of production for fast and cost effective low to medium volume shim work. This patented method of blanking shims of any complexity offers a typical cost saving of 90% on tooling compared to traditional press tooling and is suitable for parts from 0.025mm (0.001") to 0.50mm (0.020") thick in any metal.
